Wedding Videography at The Kennels, Goodwood
Wedding videographer at The Kennels, Goodwood. Intimate Regency elegance in the heart of the estate. Local Chichester team — we've filmed here and love it.
Intimate, Cinematic Films on the Goodwood Estate
The Kennels is one of those venues that surprises you the first time, and rewards you every time after. Built in 1787 by the celebrated architect James Wyatt to house the third Duke of Richmond's prized foxhounds — and reputed to be the most luxurious dog house in the world — it now operates as Goodwood's private members' clubhouse, and as a wedding venue it offers something genuinely rare: the prestige and grounds of the Goodwood Estate in an intimate, warmly personal setting.
We are based in Chichester, which puts Goodwood practically on our doorstep. We've filmed at The Kennels on a number of occasions and it has become one of our very favourite places to work — not just because the building is beautiful, but because the atmosphere of a wedding day here is unlike anywhere else. The size means everything feels connected. Guests aren't scattered across a grand house; they're together, present, in the same rooms as each other. That intimacy shows in the film.
A Building That Earns Its Place on Screen
The Kennels is a classical Regency building with a lot going on visually — and all of it works in front of a camera. The Music Room, lined floor-to-ceiling with original Penguin books and flooded with light through tall Georgian sash windows, is one of the most interesting ceremony spaces we've filmed in. That combination of literary character and natural light is rare and it produces something genuinely distinctive on screen.
The Terrace Dining Room looks directly out over the Duchess Paddock towards Goodwood House itself — so even within this intimate venue, the backdrop is unmistakably, unmistakably Goodwood. When that view appears behind you during the wedding breakfast, it needs no explanation.
Outside, the Putting Green's canopied courtyard garden works beautifully for evening receptions and drinks — a sheltered outdoor space with a bar and furniture that takes on a lovely warmth as the light softens. It's the kind of space that looks effortless on camera because the guests relax into it so naturally.
Intimate Scale, Complete Coverage
With capacity for up to 32 guests for a ceremony, The Kennels requires a different approach to a 200-person marquee wedding. The rooms are beautiful but they are not enormous. That means camera positioning is deliberate, movement is considered, and discretion is everything.
We've refined our approach at The Kennels across multiple weddings here. We know which positions in the Music Room give the cleanest ceremony coverage. We know where the light falls across the Terrace Dining Room in the afternoon. We know when to be still and when to move. That familiarity produces a calmer, more confident film — and a less obtrusive presence on your day.
We work as a two-person team throughout, ensuring coverage of key moments that occur simultaneously. One of us is positioned at each end of the room for the ceremony itself. We ensure we capture the main action as well as the reactions that make a wedding film feel complete.
Your finished film includes a 7–9 minute highlights film with licensed music, a complete ceremony film, full speeches, first dance in full, and a 1-minute social reel. Drone footage over the Goodwood Estate and the South Downs parkland beyond is included subject to estate permissions and weather — from altitude, the estate is extraordinary.
Frequently Asked Questions — Filming at The Kennels, Goodwood
Have you filmed at The Kennels before?
Yes — we've filmed there on multiple occasions and know the venue well. We're familiar with the rooms, the light, and the flow of a wedding day in this particular space. You can see examples of our work filmed at The Kennels below.
Is it possible to film well in smaller rooms like the Music Room?
Yes — this is something we've worked through carefully. The Music Room's Georgian windows are actually an asset: they provide consistent, directional natural light that makes the space look beautiful on camera even without additional lighting. We position our cameras to make the most of that.
Is drone footage available over the Goodwood Estate?
We hold the necessary CAA permissions for commercial drone operations and will seek specific approval from the Goodwood estate team in advance. The aerial footage of the estate, the South Downs parkland, and the wider Chichester countryside is consistently among the most dramatic we capture all year.
Do we really need two videographers for such a small, intimate wedding?
It's a fair question, and The Kennels is exactly the kind of venue where couples ask it. With 32 guests for the ceremony, it can feel like two camera operators might be excessive — or even intrusive. In practice, the opposite is true. An intimate venue is where a second videographer earns its place most clearly, because there's nowhere to hide a missed moment. At a 200-person wedding, if one camera misses the groom's reaction, chances are the other caught it. At The Kennels, if you miss it, it's gone. Two cameras also means we can cover both the ceremony room and the arriving guests simultaneously, so the film feels. We're experienced at working discreetly in smaller spaces — you won't feel crowded, and your guests won't either.
What package suits a Kennels wedding?
Given the intimate nature of The Kennels and the significance of a Goodwood wedding, most couples choose our Platinum Package at £1,800 (two videographers, full day coverage, highlights film, ceremony, speeches, first dance, drone footage and social reel). Our Diamond upgrade extends the highlights to 14–18 minutes for those who want a fuller narrative of their day.
How far in advance should we book?
The Kennels has a loyal following and books up well ahead. We'd recommend confirming your videography at the same time as your venue — ideally 12 months out — to avoid your date being taken.
