Cinematic Films at a Five-Star Country House

South Lodge is West Sussex's benchmark for luxury. This neo-Jacobean country house, set within 93 acres of Sussex parkland in Lower Beeding, is the kind of venue where everything has been thought of — the service, the grounds, the rooms — and a wedding here has a quality and ease to it that shows on film. The long, sweeping approaches through the parkland. The rhododendrons in spring. The outdoor pavilion with its panoramic view of the South Downs. These are the visuals that make a South Lodge wedding film immediately distinctive.

We've filmed at South Lodge and it's a venue that rewards careful, considered camera work — the kind we do. Every space here has character, and every space photographs differently. That variety across a single day's footage is something couples notice when they watch their film back.

The Gladstone Room — Grand Without Being Cold

The Gladstone Room is the principal wedding space at South Lodge, and it has the quality that the best ceremony and reception rooms share: it's grand enough to feel genuinely special, but the triple-aspect windows and natural light pouring through them keep it from feeling stiff. The high ceilings, the chandeliers, the sense of occasion — all of it translates beautifully on camera, particularly when the room fills with guests and the warmth of the day takes over.

For evening receptions, when that chandelier light becomes the dominant source and the garden darkens beyond the windows, the Gladstone Room produces some of the richest-looking footage we capture at any venue. Our Sony Cinema Line cameras handle that warm, mixed-light environment without the noise or grain that would flatten it.

The Disraeli Room — Intimate, With a View

For smaller or more intimate celebrations, the Disraeli Room holds up to 50 guests and opens onto a private terrace with South Downs views that are, on a clear day, breathtaking. For couple portraits in the late afternoon — the terrace, the parkland, the light on the downs — it is one of the finest outdoor settings of any hotel venue in the county.

The Outdoor Pavilion and 93 Acres of Grounds

The outdoor wedding pavilion is South Lodge's most dramatic offering: a dedicated ceremony space with a panoramic view across the South Downs, available in the summer months. Getting married in open air with that landscape behind you is extraordinary on film — the depth of field, the sky, the way the South Downs fill the frame. We always plan carefully for the light when shooting outdoors here.

The 93 acres of parkland also give us genuine freedom for couple portraits — from the formal gardens closest to the house to the wider grounds beyond, there's always somewhere beautiful to be. In autumn the colours across the estate are exceptional.

Two Videographers, From Preparations to Last Dance

We work as a two-person team throughout your South Lodge wedding day. At a venue spread across multiple spaces — ceremony room, reception room, pavilion, grounds — two cameras working simultaneously is essential to ensure nothing is missed as the day moves between its different acts. We're discreet by design, and experienced at working in luxury hotel environments where the atmosphere needs to be preserved.

Your finished film includes a 7–9 minute highlights film with licensed music, complete ceremony film, full speeches, first dance in full, and a 1-minute social reel. Drone footage over South Lodge's parkland and the South Downs beyond is included subject to weather and hotel permissions — the estate from altitude is genuinely stunning.

Frequently Asked Questions — Filming at South Lodge

Have you filmed at South Lodge before?

Yes — we've filmed at South Lodge and know the venue well. You can see examples of our work filmed there below.

Can you film well in the Gladstone Room's chandelier lighting?

Yes. The Gladstone Room's mix of natural window light and chandelier warmth is something our Sony Cinema Line cameras handle beautifully — the same camera family used in Netflix productions, built precisely for complex lighting environments. Evening reception footage there looks rich and cinematic rather than flat or overlit.

Is drone footage available at South Lodge?

We hold full CAA commercial drone permissions and will confirm access with the hotel in advance. The aerial view across South Lodge's 93 acres of parkland and towards the South Downs is exceptional.

Do you cover the outdoor pavilion ceremonies?

Absolutely. The pavilion and its South Downs backdrop is one of the most visually dramatic ceremony settings in West Sussex. We plan our positions in advance to make the most of the view, the light, and the open sky behind you.

Which package suits a South Lodge wedding?

Given the scale and luxury of South Lodge, most couples choose our Platinum Package at £1,800 — two videographers, full day coverage, highlights film, ceremony, speeches, first dance, drone footage, and social reel. Our Diamond upgrade, extending the highlights to 14–18 minutes, suits couples who want a fuller narrative of their day at a venue this significant.

How early should we book?

South Lodge is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in West Sussex and books well in advance. We'd recommend securing your videography team at the same time as the venue — ideally 12 months ahead.
