Cinematic Films at Brighton's Most Iconic Barn

Some venues feel immediately, instinctively right. Pangdean Old Barn is one of them. Built in 1720, set within a 1,000-acre working farm in Pyecombe just five miles north of Brighton, this Grade II listed oak-framed barn has been the setting for weddings for over 30 years — and it shows, not in any tired or worn way, but in the ease and confidence of a venue that knows exactly what it is and does it extraordinarily well. The ancient beams, the fairy lights threaded through the rafters, the flint-walled garden looking out over the South Downs — there's a warmth and authenticity here that you can't manufacture, and that reads immediately and powerfully on film.

We've filmed at Pangdean Old Barn and it's a place we return to with genuine enthusiasm. The barn is visually rich in a way that means there's always something worth capturing — always a detail, always an angle, always a quality of light doing something interesting.

A Barn Built in 1720 — and It Shows

The thing about Pangdean that separates it from newer barn conversions is the depth of history in the structure itself. These oak beams have been here for over 300 years. The weight and character of that age comes through on camera in a way that no amount of dressing a newer building can replicate. The fairy lights in the rafters — a deceptively simple touch — turn the barn into something close to magical after dark, and the footage from evening receptions here has a quality that's genuinely hard to achieve anywhere else.

The Old Barn holds up to 196 guests, the Stable up to 70 for more intimate ceremonies, and the flint-walled garden provides one of the finest outdoor ceremony and drinks reception spaces in the Brighton area. Each space has its own distinct character and requires a different approach — which is exactly why we work as a two-person team.

A Working Farm, a Living Landscape

Pangdean is a 1,000-acre working farm, and that matters on film. The countryside here isn't manicured estate — it's real, working, lived-in West Sussex landscape, with the South Downs rolling away behind the barn in every direction. For couple portraits, particularly at golden hour with the downs as backdrop, the results are consistently among the most beautiful we capture anywhere across the county.

The venue's approach to weddings — no set menus, no packages, completely bespoke, one event per day, exclusive use — means every Pangdean wedding feels different, and every Pangdean film reflects that. There is no template here.

Two Videographers, Start to Finish

We work as a two-person team across your entire Pangdean wedding day. The spread of spaces — Stable or garden for the ceremony, Old Barn for the reception, gardens and grounds for portraits — means two cameras working simultaneously is the only way to ensure the day is fully captured as it moves through its different acts.

We are discreet by design. At a venue as characterful and atmospheric as Pangdean, the last thing you want is a crew interrupting the mood. We move quietly, position ourselves before each key moment begins, and let the day unfold around us.

Your finished film includes a 7–9 minute highlights film with licensed music, complete ceremony film, full speeches, first dance in full, and a 1-minute social reel. Drone footage over the farm and South Downs is included subject to weather and venue permissions — from the air, Pangdean's position in the landscape is extraordinary.

Frequently Asked Questions — Filming at Pangdean Old Barn

Have you filmed at Pangdean Old Barn before?

Yes — we've filmed at Pangdean and know the venue well. You can see examples of our work filmed there below.

How do you handle the mixed lighting inside the Old Barn?

The Old Barn's combination of fairy lights in the rafters, natural light from the large doors, and evening candlelight creates a lighting environment that requires careful camera work. Our Sony Cinema Line cameras are built for exactly this — producing rich, warm, detailed footage in low and mixed-light environments without the noise or flatness that would undermine the atmosphere.

Can you film outdoor ceremonies in the flint-walled garden?

Absolutely. The flint-walled garden with the South Downs behind it is one of our favourite outdoor ceremony settings in Sussex. We plan our positions to make the most of that backdrop and the natural light at whatever time of day your ceremony falls.

Is drone footage available at Pangdean?

We hold CAA commercial drone permissions and will confirm access with the venue. The aerial view over Pangdean's 1,000-acre working farm and the South Downs National Park is exceptional — one of the most striking drone sequences we capture.

What package suits a Pangdean wedding?

Most couples choose our Platinum Package at £1,800 — two videographers, full day coverage, highlights film, ceremony, speeches, first dance, drone footage, and social reel. Given Pangdean's unique character, the Diamond upgrade extending the highlights to 14–18 minutes gives the venue and the day fuller justice.

How early should we book?

Pangdean runs one event per day and books up well in advance — particularly for summer weekends. We'd recommend booking your videography team 9–12 months ahead to secure your date.
