Wedding Videography at Cissbury Barns

Wedding videographer at Cissbury Barns, Findon. Cinematic films on the South Downs Estate — the East Barn, The Glade & beyond. Local team who've filmed here.

Cinematic Films on the South Downs Estate

Cissbury Barns has a quality that's difficult to put into words until you've actually been there. You arrive through woodland, and then the trees open up and suddenly you're met with the barns, the rolling fields, and on a clear day, views stretching all the way to the sea. It's the kind of arrival that sets the tone for an entire wedding day — and that sense of space, of being somewhere genuinely beautiful, runs through every frame of footage we've captured here.

Set on the Cissbury Estate in the South Downs National Park just outside Findon, this is a venue that rewards the couples who choose it. The rustic brick and flint stone, the beams, the large windows and doors — it all has a warmth and authenticity that you can't manufacture. We've filmed at Cissbury Barns and it's a venue we think about when people ask us where we love to work.

Three Completely Different Spaces, One Cohesive Film

What makes Cissbury genuinely interesting to film is how distinct each of its spaces feels. The East Barn — with its stone walls, flowing white drapes, bespoke rustic furniture, and large windows filling the room with natural light — is elegant and airy in a way that photographs as beautifully as it looks in person. The West Barn, opening out onto the patio for the reception, has a different character: warmer, more celebratory, with that easy flow between inside and out that makes guests feel at home.

Then there's The Glade — Cissbury's outdoor ceremony space, where guests sit beneath the trees looking out over the rolling fields of the estate. It's one of the most naturally cinematic ceremony settings in West Sussex. The dappled light through the canopy, the open countryside beyond, the quiet of being surrounded by trees — it creates a completely different atmosphere on film to any barn ceremony, and it's the kind of footage that people watch back and feel immediately transported.

Even the details have character here. The open-fronted lambing pens repurposed as a bar and lounge area. The flint walled garden for the drinks reception with its pétanque court and lawn games. These are the visual threads that make a Cissbury film feel alive — there's always something to capture, always somewhere interesting to be.

South Downs, Sea Views, and Golden Hour

Cissbury sits high enough to catch sea views on a clear day, which gives couple portraits a backdrop that most inland venues simply don't have. That combination of rolling South Downs countryside and a distant glimpse of the coast — particularly at golden hour — is something we make it our business to use. We'd always recommend building time into your day for portraits in that window of evening light, ideally in the fields or the ceremonial garden with the landscape behind you.

Two Videographers, Start to Finish

We work as a two-person team across your entire Cissbury wedding day. Given the spread of spaces — from the East Barn or Glade for the ceremony, through the flint walled garden for drinks, into the West Barn for the reception — two cameras working simultaneously means nothing is missed as the day moves through its different acts.

We're discreet by design. At a venue as naturally relaxed and visually rich as Cissbury, our job is to move quietly through your day, capturing what's already happening rather than directing anything. Everything in your film will be real.

Your finished film includes a 7–9 minute highlights film with licensed music, a complete ceremony film, full speeches, first dance in full with smooth stabilised movement, and a 1-minute social reel. Drone footage over the Cissbury Estate and the South Downs National Park is included subject to weather and venue permissions — from the air, the estate's position in the landscape is extraordinary.

Frequently Asked Questions — Filming at Cissbury Barns

Have you filmed at Cissbury Barns before?

Yes — we've filmed at Cissbury and know the venue well. You can see examples of our work filmed there below.

Can you film both The Glade outdoor ceremony and the East Barn?

Absolutely. The choice between The Glade and the East Barn doesn't affect our coverage — we plan our camera positions for whichever ceremony space you're using. The Glade in particular is one of our favourite outdoor ceremony settings in West Sussex; the natural light and tree canopy create something genuinely special on film.

How do you handle the varied lighting across different spaces at Cissbury?

Each space at Cissbury has its own light — the East Barn is bright and airy, the West Barn warmer in the evening, The Glade dappled and natural. Our Sony Cinema Line cameras handle these transitions cleanly. You won't see a difference in quality between ceremony and reception footage.

Can you get drone footage over the estate?

We hold CAA permissions for commercial drone operations and will confirm access with the venue in advance. The aerial view of the estate — the barns emerging from the woodland, the South Downs beyond, and the sea on the horizon on a clear day — is exceptional.

Is there a good spot for couple portraits?

Several. The ceremonial garden and the flint walled garden both work beautifully. But our favourite at Cissbury is out in the estate's open fields at golden hour, with the South Downs and coast as backdrop — it's one of the most visually striking portrait settings we work in across the whole county.

What package suits a Cissbury wedding?

Most couples choose our Platinum Package at £1,800 — two videographers, full day coverage, highlights film, ceremony, speeches, first dance, drone footage, and social reel. For those wanting a more in-depth narrative film, our Diamond upgrade extends the highlights to 14–18 minutes.

How early should we book?

Cissbury is a popular venue and books up well in advance. We'd recommend securing your videography at the same time as your venue — ideally 9–12 months ahead.
